Clarkston Fire Department Fights Motel Fire Early This Morning

CLARKSTON -- Wednesday, October, 13 at 2:15 a.m. Clarkston Fire Department was dispatched to a fire with flames showing at a local motel. On arrival, crews saw heavy flames from between an outbuilding and the main structure.

The first attack was able to knock down flames quickly but the fire had spread to the attic of the motel with visible flame through the roof. Firefighting efforts went interior in order to reach the attic fire. The fire was held to only 4 rooms and the outbuilding. Mop up and finding hot spots carried on for a couple of hours making sure there was no chance of rekindling.

Asotin County Fire District #1, Lewiston Fire Department, and Clearwater Paper Fire responded with our auto aid agreement. Thank you to our brothers from other departments for your assistance.

This fire is still under investigation with no determined cause at this time. There were no reported injuries.
