Orofino Man Falls Asleep at the Wheel Resulting in Single Vehicle Rollover

Clearwater County

On Tuesday, October 12 at approximately 6:00 p.m., deputies responded to the area of mile marker 27 on Highway 11 near Pierce for a report of an unknown injury, single-vehicle rollover.

The 2004 Toyota Tacoma was driven by Christopher L. Berry (54) of Orofino. After investigation, responders discovered he fell asleep and crashed into an embankment, subsequently causing his vehicle to roll over onto the driver's side.

Berry was uninjured in the crash but was cited for Inattentive/Careless Driving, as well as, Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants. The vehicle sustained significant damage and was towed by Franks Towing out of Grangeville.
