Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Arrest in Colfax Monday

COLFAX, WA- Whitman County Deputies Seize Fentanyl, Heroin, Methamphetamine and Loaded Firearm During Traffic Stop.  

Monday evening, deputies stopped a vehicle in downtown Colfax for a routine traffic violation and subsequently arrested the driver after observing illegal narcotics and other paraphernalia inside the vehicle. That information, along with other statements made by the driver lead deputies to apply for a search warrant out of concern of possible narcotics trafficking.

Deputies applied for and were granted a search warrant based on the information.  During a search of the vehicle deputies located approximately 150 Fentanyl Tablets, 48 grams of Heroin and 53 grams of Methamphetamine.  Also located in the vehicle was a loaded handgun, 825.00 cash and other items of paraphernalia associated with trafficking narcotics.  

27yoa Joseph Baker of Airway Heights , WA was later booked into the Whitman County Jail on 3 Counts of Possession with Intent to Deliver (Meth, Heroin and Fentanyl), Unlawful Possession of a Firearm and Driving with a Suspended License.  Baker is set to have his first appearance later this afternoon in Whitman County Superior Court.  Baker is believed to have at least 6 prior felony convictions.
