Idaho Falls Man Facing Felony Charges After Sharing Child Pornography
IDAHO FALLS - An Idaho Falls man is facing prison time after investigators say he shared child pornography. In April 2020, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children sent local authorities a tip from Twitter with regards to an account that uploaded images of child pornography. According to reports, local authorities tied the account to forty-two (42) year old Nathanial Allen Pickering.
As a result, he's been charged with a felony count of possessing material sexually exploting a child.
The Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force arrived in Idaho Falls in September and searched Pickering's home; as well as two local businesses associated with him.
When detectives questioned Pickering, he claimed he and his significant other used the Twitter account to arrange sexual encounters with other couples. He did however, admit to seeing child pornography, but claimed others would send the content to him, and he must have unknowingly downloaded it to his account saying he "never intentionally downloaded any images of that kind on his phone."
Still, detectives pushed him on tweets he had that included links to children being sexually abused and bestiality; yet still Pickering denied sending it.
Investigators say they also uncovered hundreds of messages between Pickering and another account that included links to children being sexually abused. The Bonneville County Prosecutor's Office charged Pickering with sexual exploitation of children, but upon his arrest, he posted the $75,000 bail and was released from jail.
Pickering has a preliminary hearing scheduled on January 29th at the Bonneville County Courthouse. If convicted, he could face up to 10 years in prison.
