Alleged Sexual Assault Attempt Turns Into Chase

Highway 95, Yesteday

GRANGEVILLE, ID – An alleged sexual assault attempt turned into a chase on Highway 95 yesterday.  A woman reported the attempted assault just after 2:30 pm at the Syringa Thrift Store.  Grangeville Police say the suspect fled north on Highway 95.  Idaho County Sheriff’s deputies responded and pulled over the driver who refused to comply with the deputy’s commands.  He drove away, still northbound, attempting to elude officers.  Idaho State Police Troopers and Lewis and Nez Perce County Sheriff’s Deputies joined the chase and stopped the vehicle near Webb Road.  A Facebook post by the Grangeville Police says once stopped, the driver refused to obey commands and was removed from the vehicle and placed into custody.  The driver of the vehicle is identified as 32-year-old Samuel A. Flores of Wenatchee, WA.  Flores matched the description and video surveillance footage at the initial scene in Grangeville.  Flores was arrested on charges of fleeing or attempting to elude a peace officer by the Idaho State Police.
