Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife Law Enforcement Program is asking for your help in distributing the following request for tips involving the possible poaching of a trophy, eight year old Bighorn Sheep ram along the Grande Ronde River. Please contact WDFW Sergeant Paul Mosman at 509-710-5707 with information.

At 1:30 pm the department was dispatched to a brush fire in the canyon between Vineyard Avenue and Hillcrest Drive. First arriving crews found a slow moving brush fire approximately 60 feet by 80 feet between the two roadways. No structures were threatened.
The fire was quickly extinguished and crews mopped up the area for any hotspots. The crews were on scene for approximately half an hour.
The department responded one structural engine, one brush truck and one fire inspector for a total of 5 personnel. No civilian or firefighter injuries were reported.
The fire cause was undetermined. This early brush fire should serve as a reminder that the dead grasses and brush underneath the new spring growth is still very dry and easily ignited.

Idaho’s seasonally adjusted unemployment jumped to 11.5 percent and non-farm payrolls lost 79,500 jobs in April due to the effects of COVID-19.

April’s rate increased nine percentage points from a record low 2.5 percent in March to an all-time high that exceeded record-setting rates of 10.2 percent in December 1982 and the Great Recession peak rate of 9.6 percent in June 2009.

There will be no garbage collection service on Memorial Day,
Monday, May 25, 2020. Regular weekly pickup, including
recycling and yard waste, will occur one day later.
The Lewiston Transfer Station and Clearwater Composting will
also be closed in observance of Memorial Day.

WASHINGTON – Yesterday, the Senate unanimously passed the Small Business Lending Continuity Act of 2020. This bipartisan legislation, led by U.S. Senators Jim Risch (R-Idaho) and Tammy Duckworth (D-Ill.), will make a technical correction to the CARES Act and prevent the Small Business Administration’s (SBA) flagship 7(a) Loan Guarantee Program from shutting down when the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) reaches its authorization cap of $310 billion. The SBA 7(a) program provides small businesses with capital to start or grow a business and is widely used among Idahoans.

The 2020 season was cut short in the midst of a strong NAIA West run, taking with it the 2020 Avista NAIA World Series. After a rough start to the season, the Warriors picked up the pace with the help of some new bats and breakthrough pitching performances. LC State ended the shortened season with a record of 15-5.
