Garfield Area Man Dies in One-Vehicle Rollover Near Tekoa

TEKOA, WA - An 80-year-old Garfield area man died this morning in a one-vehicle rollover crash in Whitman County.  According to a press release from the Whitman County Sheriff's Office, Melvin L. Mundell was traveling northbound on Tekoa-Farmington Road and failed to negotiate a corner.  His 2014 Jeep Patriot left the road and rolled onto its top in Hangman Creek, about 1/4 mile south of Tekoa.

States Receive SBA Grants to Boost Small Business Exports

OLYMPIA, WA - The US Small Business Administration has awarded the Washington State Department of Commerce a sixth year of funding to help state small businesses grow through exporting. The $900,000 grant, part of the SBA’s State Trade Expansion Program, is the highest and maximum amount awarded from a total $18 million nationwide.  The Idaho Department of Commerce received a grant of $343,240.

Kamiah Man Rescued After Missing For Two Days; Car Crashed 75 Feet into Ravine

KAMIAH, ID - A 24-year-old Kamiah man who was reported missing Friday night was located Sunday morning with the help of his cell phone's signal.  Jacob L. Phillips had left work in Grangeville at 2:15 p.m.   He never made it home and he did not make contact with any family members.  On Sunday, Phillips' car was found 75 feet down in a ravine.

Clarkston Woman Involved in Rollover Crash on Tammany Creek Road

LEWISTON, ID - A 22-year-old Clarkston woman received only minor injuries in a one-vehicle rollover crash on Tammany Creek Road at about 10:22 a.m. this morning.  The Nez Perce County Sheriff's Office says Samantha R. Wantz was traveling eastbound near milepost 5 when she lost control of her 1997 Ford Explorer on a turn and hit the embankment.

One Injured in US 95 Crash

GENESEE, ID - One person was injured in a two-vehicle collision on US 95 at about 3:33 p.m. yesterday afternoon.  The Idaho State Police says 21-year-old Brandon Arneson of Genesee was traveling southbound when he attempted to turn left across the northbound lanes onto eastbound Genesee-Juliaetta Road.  He failed to yield the right-of-way and his 1997 Geo Prism was struck by a 2000 Chevrolet Cavalier driven by 19-year-old Regan Campbell of Moscow.

Decision Clears Way for Hazardous Fuels Reduction Near Lowell

KAMIAH, ID - Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests Supervisor Cheryl Probert has approved a plan that is designed to improve forest health and reduce hazardous fuels in the Community Protections Zone of Lowell. The Lowell Wildland Urban Interface project will treat 166 acres on the Lochsa/Powell and Moose Creek Ranger Districts.

Secretary of State Forwards Cases of Potential Voter Fraud to County Prosecutors

OLYMPIA, WA - Following a study involving Washington and four other states, 74 cases of possible voter fraud will be turned over to local prosecutors by the Secretary of State.  Those individuals have been identified as possibly voting more than once or voting on behalf of someone who was deceased, accounting for .002% percent of the 3.36 million votes cast in last year’s General Election in Washington.  There was one case in Asotin County and one case in Whitman County.
