LEWISTON, ID – The Hazardous Weather Outlook continues for the LC Valley with more serious conditions in the surrounding areas. 

The LC Valley should expect rain today with a slight chance of snow tonight, but the Pullman/Moscow area should expect snow and rain all day with winds picking up tonight.

Orofino and Kamiah are both forecast to get rain and light winds today and tonight.

Idaho's 511 System Down For Maintenance Tomorrow

BOISE, ID – The Idaho 511 line and website will be down tomorrow night.  The Idaho Transportation Department is performing technology maintenance on the phone line, website, and app.  Those services provide road conditions and accident blockages on Idaho’s highways.  There is a Winter Storm Warning for much of the state this week, so if you’re about to travel, they advise you to check conditions right before they turn the system off.

GENESEE, ID – Highway 95 may finally be four lanes from Lewiston to Moscow in the near future.  The U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals ruled in favor of the Transportation Department during the latest appeal over the expansion.  The area from Thorn Creek to Moscow has been embroiled in controversy since before work shut down on the highway.  The stretch of unfinished highway remains one of the deadliest roads in Idaho.   

Lapwai Mayor Dies In Accident At Casino

LAPWAI, ID – The Lapwai Mayor died this afternoon in an accident near the Clearwater River Casino.  Iona Ruth McConville was trying to turn left onto Highway 95 from the south entrance to the Casino.  An oncoming van was headed northbound when it collided with her vehicle.  She died as a result of her injuries at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center.

LEWISTON, ID – The National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for parts of eastern Washington and north-central Idaho.  A weak weather system passing through the region will bring light accumulations of snow today.

ASOTIN, WA – The annual Asotin Lighted Christmas Parade is this afternoon.  It features floats from local fire departments, police departments, off-road clubs, local royalty and a lot more.  It’s free to bring the family down.  It starts at 5:00 pm on 2nd street.  It runs from the Courthouse Annex to just past the school.  After the parade Santa will be in the Asotin City Fire Station to give out cookies and hot chocolate.  He’ll also be available for pictures with kids.

OTHELLO, WA – The highway between Colfax and Vantage will reopen on December 14th.  The Washington State Department of Transportation tweeted that date today.  In the Tweet, they said between now and then they’ll finish the bridge rails, the curb, guardrail, deck grooving, and apply temporary stripes.

CLARKSTON, WA - Photos have been circulating Facebook about a Clarkston boy who was missing.  The Clarkston Police Chief says he wasn't at home for a few hours yesteday after an argument with his parents, but he is now home again.

LEWISTON, ID - Yesterday morning we were contacted by a mother who knew her 5-year-old daughter would be sad when she awoke to find a thief had taken their inflatable outdoor Christmas ornaments.  We posted a BOLO (Be On the Look Out) for the person who had stolen them.  Within two hours the owner of Denver's Window Shine offered to replace the stolen items.

LEWISTON, ID – Protesters of the steelhead season closure are gathering this weekend to make a statement.   Sunday outfitters, guides, businesses, community organizations, and local fisherman are bringing their trailered boats to the Port of Lewiston.  The group will proceed through town, ending at the Southway Boat ramp to let the anti-steelhead fishing groups from Western Washington, Boise, and Moscow know that these Idahoans aren’t happy. 

Airport Manager Search Underway

LEWISTON, ID – The search is underway for the new Manager of the Lewiston-Nez Perce County Airport.  At last night’s Airport Authority Board meeting, the group selected Gary Peters to head the hunt for the best-possible person for the job.  The board is considering hiring a professional firm to do the searching.  A figure of $35,000 was thrown out as a potential cost to hire someone else to do it.  Other board members were vocal in their agreement that it’s worth the money to search the country.
