Classic Rock 102.9

Veterans Day is a time for us to pay our respects to those who have served. For one day, we stand united in respect for you, our veterans.

This holiday started as a day to reflect upon the heroism of those who died in our country's service and was originally called Armistice Day. It fell on Nov. 11 because that is the anniversary of the signing of the Armistice that ended World War I. However, in 1954, the holiday was changed to "Veterans Day" in order to account for all veterans in all wars.

In 2004 Sgt. Jacey Marks, USMC, joined the Marines just two weeks out of high school, which led him to a total of six deployments including two in Iraq and two in Afghanistan.

Sgt. Marks’ mother, Becki Marks, nominated her son to be honored as this month’s Classic Rock 102.9 and Pacific Steel & Recycling’s Veteran that Rocks.  All Veterans have a story, and many are left untold.  The purpose of this feature is to honor our heroes and thank them for their service.  Sgt. Marks is one of these Heroes.
