WASHINGTON D.C. - Two Idaho youths were honored for volunteerism at a national award ceremony during the 22nd annual presentation of The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards. Olympic gold medalist Michael Phelps paid tribute to 15-year-old Joseph Thomasson of Lewiston and 10-year-old Shelby Kettler of Pocatello.

Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests are Looking for Campground Hosts

KAMIAH, ID - There is an opportunity to serve as a campground host at the Wilderness Gateway Campground. The Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests are looking for a campground host who can work for most of the summer (May 29th through September 4th), but they will consider those who can work at least one month.

 

Two Lapwai Men Arrested on Drug & Weapons Charges

CLARKSTON, WA - Two Lapwai residents were booked into the Asotin County Jail last night on drug and firearms charges following a vehicle stop near 13th and Fleshman Way.  Sheriff John Hilderbrand says Deputy Nathan Conley stopped their vehicle for a traffic violation at about 9:30 p.m. and identified the two occupants as 58-year-old Joe E. Allen and 38-year-old Kleo A. Allen.

Two Whitman County Residents Arrested After Search Warrant Yields Drugs & Paraphernalia.

STEPTOE, WA - Whitman County Sheriff's Deputies arrested two people over the weekend after a search of their Steptoe residence reportedly turned up drug paraphernalia, hydrocodone pills, and small amounts of heroin and methamphetamine.  19-year-old Wyatt Schmidt of Colfax and 20-year-old Megan Rhuby of Steptoe were arrested over the weekend on charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Three People Arrested For Allegedly Burglarizing Storage Units

LEWISTON, ID - Three people were arrested last night in connection with alleged burglaries at the Airport Rent-a-Space in the 300 block of Thain Road.  At 8:00 p.m. last night, officials learned that the red Toyota sedan and three alleged suspects had returned to the scene and were currently in a storage unit.  Arriving officers found 36-year-old transient Jeffrey C. Arnett, 38-year-old Summer D. Gibson of Clarkston, and 40-year-old Matthew D. Armstrong of Lewiston.

Regional Response Team Responds to Diesel Hazmat Situation South of Winchester

WINCHESTER, ID - A fuel leak at the Camas Express south of Winchester resulted in the activation of the Regional Response Team.  Lewiston Fire Department members responded to the location at about 9:00 p.m. last night to assist the Idaho State Police with the approximately 50 gallon leak of diesel following a collision involving a semi.
