Idaho Toxicology Trends Report for FY 2017 Released

MERIDIAN, ID - An annual report from the Idaho State Police Forensic Services says of the 881 adult DUI toxicology cases tested in Fiscal Year 2017, 81% of them tested positive for one or more drugs, either legal or illegal.  The urine toxicology adult DUI results are noteworthy as only 6.8% of the cases had no drugs reported according to the Toxicology Trends Report.  It contains statistics related to drug and alcohol impaired driving in Idaho.

2018 Idaho Awards for Leadership in Energy Efficiency Application Period is Open

BOISE, ID - Applications are now being accepted for the 2018 Idaho Awards for Leadership in Energy Efficiency.  Through the Office of Energy and Mineral Resources, the awards acknowledge Idaho companies that have shown leadership in implementing energy efficient measures at their facilities or buildings.

IDFG, WDFW, & ODFW Planning to Capture 100 Bighorn Sheep

LEWISTON, ID - The Idaho Department of Fish and Game, Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, and the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife are planning to capture 100 bighorn sheep in three Hells Canyon herds Sunday through February 10th. This is part of an ongoing Hells Canyon Initiative to restore bighorn sheep populations.

Youth Group From Lewiston Involved in Oregon Crash, Two Airlifted

HERMISTON, OR - A large passenger van carrying a church youth group from the Lewis-Clark Valley crashed early this afternoon outside Hermiston.  The East Oregonian says there were 11 people in the van and two of them were airlifted to Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland with serious injuries.  One person was ejected while two others were partially ejected.

Howell Munitions & Technology Lays Off Several Employees at Southport Location

LEWISTON, ID - Howell Munitions & Technology has once again laid off employees due to the overall market for ammunition.  The company has weathered multiple layoffs in recent years, including one in February 2017.  According to an employee who was among those laid off yesterday at the Southport location, they were told that there would be a meeting at the end of their shift; they reportedly did not receive any warning of the layoffs.

Bureau of Land Management Generated Nearly $360 Million From Oil & Gas Lease Sales

WASHINGTON - The Bureau of Land Management generated nearly $360 million from oil and gas lease sales in 2017 which is an 86% increase over the previous year's results of $192.5 million. The agency says growth is advancing the administration's goals of promoting America's energy independence.

Among these sales, which together were the highest in nearly a decade, rights to a total of 949 parcels, covering 792,823 acres, were sold.
