MOSCOW, ID - A new case of measles has popped up east of the Cascades.  Vancouver, WA was previously the hub of local infection, but now Moscow has a confirmed case.  The Latah County resident is the first to have measles in Idaho since 2001.

SMYRNA, WA – A Level 3 evacuation order is in effect for Smyrna, WA right now, which means the residents all need to leave their homes immediately.  A fire in central Washington flared up last night just before 9:00.  It’s currently burning in Grant County near Royal City, between Othello and Vantage.  The fire is currently more than 3,000 acres in size and is growing.

CLARKSTON, WA – Wednesday is the meeting where Veterans can get some health care questions answered.  Representatives from the Walla Walla VA Hospital and the Lewiston VA Clinic will be at the town hall meeting.  Veteran Service Officers will be there to help out as well.  There will be a presentation followed by a question-and-answer session.  They’ll be serving lunch during the event.

Longer Travel Time Headed West

POMEROY, WA – A trip west will take you extra time today.  Both Highways 12 and 26 are undergoing construction.  Highway 12 is getting sealed just west of Alpowa Summit for several miles before Pomeroy, and Highway 26 is getting chip sealed from Colfax to Dusty.  Both areas have decreased speed limits and flaggers helping drivers get through traffic safely.

LEWISTON, ID – A Lewiston woman just had both of her lungs replaced.  Erika Pepper is hoping to find some community support during her recovery in Seattle.  Her friends and family are trying to raise $65,000 to pay for the growing medical bills.

LEWISTON, ID – You may notice a light haze in the air today.  The air quality has taken a slight hit, but it should get better this weekend.  The fires burning in Alberta are no closer to being put out and the smoke is starting to drift in the United States.

MOSCOW, ID – Tomorrow you can take the kids to the Eastside Marketplace’s parking lot for a morning of fun and education.  The Officer Newbill Kids Safety Fair offers kids the chance to ride in a bike rodeo and have all kinds of fun.  It’s also a chance to get kids under 16 a free helmet, make sure their seats are in your car properly, and learn more about local emergency help.
