Washington & Idaho State Police Plan Crack Down on Impaired Driving New Year's Eve

Olympia, Washington - The Western States Traffic Safety Coalition (WSTSC) wants everyone to know that
dangerous driving has no place on our roadways during the New Year’s holiday and that drunk or high drivers have
nowhere to hide from the thousands of troopers and officers that will be on the roads in the eleven-state

TUMWATER — There’s a question about the minimum wage that the Washington State Department of Labor & Industries (L&I) receives a lot, especially at the start of a new year. Here’s the answer:
“If you receive the minimum wage, and worked during December but are paid in January for that time, then you’ll receive the 2020 minimum wage,” said Joshua Grice, Employment Standards Program manager at L&I. “This is something we remind businesses and employees about frequently.”

On the evening of December 29, 1940, London suffers its most devastating air raid when Germans firebomb the city. Hundreds of fires caused by the exploding bombs engulfed areas of London, but firefighters showed a valiant indifference to the bombs falling around them and saved much of the city from destruction. The next day, a newspaper photo of St. Paul’s Cathedral standing undamaged amid the smoke and flames seemed to symbolize the capital’s unconquerable spirit during the Battle of Britain.

Federal Emergency Declaration Expected in Nashville in Wake of Suicide Bombing

NASHVILLE, TN - Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee says he expects a response soon to the request for federal aid he made in wake of the suicide bombing on Christmas Day. A federal emergency declaration would mobilize federal emergency resources to supplement state and local emergency services, including federal aid up to $5 million.

 

House Backs Trump on $2,000 Checks

The House on Dec. 28 passed a bill replacing the $600 stimulus checks in the newly enacted virus relief bill with $2,000 payments, as Democrats and moderate Republicans voted in favor of a proposal backed by President Donald Trump. The bill cleared the chamber on a 275-134 vote, reaching the two-thirds majority needed for the expedited procedure.
