Avista Says No Planned Outages for Thursday

Marisa Lloyd 622

SPOKANE, Wash.  –  Avista does not plan to complete proactive outages on Thursday, as ongoing electricity conservation by customers, grid modifications, and shifting of the electric load has alleviated some of the strain on the electric system. Avista will continue to monitor those areas where the system is impacted by the heat. Should the situation change throughout the day, Avista will proactively notify those customers that would be impacted by an outage. A map that identifies the area being monitored is available at myavista.com/conserve.

Update from Avista About Planned Outages for Wednesday 06/30

Marisa Lloyd 3763

The strain on Avista's electric system in Spokane, Wash., and Lewiston, Idaho has been reduced since Monday due to ongoing grid modifications, shifting of electric load, and customer conservation of electricity despite continued record-breaking heat and all-time high electricity usage. Given this, the number of customers in the greater Spokane area and Lewiston expected to be impacted by focused, protective outages on Wednesday is approximately 5,800, down from 22,000 expected on Tuesday. These outages continue to be a protective measure intended to minimize broader customer impact and prevent extensive damage to the system that could result in prolonged outages. Avista continues to have an adequate energy supply available to serve customers.
