City of Lewiston is Working to Modify Requirements for Placement of Receptacles

LEWISTON, ID - The City of Lewiston is working on amending Section 17-21 of Ordinance 4717 to modify requirements for the placement of receptacles on sidewalks and streets for citizens who use wheelchairs and others on garbage pick up day.

From the City of Lewiston:
The new language would require all receptacles to be ”placed on the sidewalk adjacent to the curb, while maintaining unobstructed sidewalk access of at least forty-eight (48) inches in width; adjacent to the travelway where curb does not exist or if at least forty-eight (48) inches in width of unobstructed sidewalk access cannot be maintained.”

U of I Athletic Director Rob Spear Placed on Administrative Leave

MOSCOW, ID - University of Idaho Athletic Director Rob Spear has been put on administrative leave for 60 days as investigators and university leadership work to investigate process failures in reporting sexual assault complaints in 2012 and 2013.

In the interim, Pete Isakson, associate athletic director, will serve as acting athletic director for day-to-day operations. Brian Foisy, vice president for finance and administration, will work with the athletics business office to manage the finance functions of the department.

Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests has Firewood Cutting & Mushroom Permits Available

KAMIAH, ID - The Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests has firewood cutting permits and personal use mushroom permits available. The permits are valid now through March 2019.

From the NP-CNF's:
Personal Use Firewood Cutting Permits allow permit holders to harvest dead trees and down logs on National Forests in USDA Forest Service Region 1, as well as on Bureau of Land Management public lands. Firewood permits cost $5 a cord, with a four cord minimum ($20). A permit can be purchased for a maximum of 12 cords ($60).

Volunteer campground hosts are front–line representatives of the USDA Forest Service. Typical duties include informing visitors of recreational opportunities, answering questions from visitors, monitoring campground sites for fee compliance, recording daily occupancy levels, maintaining campground facilities, and more.

LEWISTON, ID - The City of Lewiston , Modie Park Conservancy, and Lewiston's Rotary Club would like to invite the community to a joint Arbor Day celebration on April 27th beginning at 1:00 p.m. They will plant three trees in Modie Park.
