As of 6 a.m. (PDT) July 8, Doug Turman’s Type 1 Northern Rockies National Incident Management Team 2 assumed command of the Dixie and Jumbo Fires.  The team is developing an aggressive suppression strategy, factoring in the large national competition for incident resources, current environmental conditions, topography and predicted weather patterns in the coming days.

Pine Creek Fire Grows as Incident Teams Take On A New Fire

Deary, Idaho - The Pine Creek fire grows as it burns in very steep and rugged terrain making firefighting a slow and difficult process. Despite the challenges, fire crews were successful in keeping the fire on the west side of Pine Creek and east of Heimgartner Road. The fire is estimated at 400 acres with zero containment.

Cheney, WA – Crews overnight worked on the line with infrared technology to look for hot spots. This is a piece of technology that provides an extra set of “eyes” to help make sure the fire is totally out and there are no hot spots within the mop-up area.

ASOTIN - The two fires that started Wednesday continue to be worked on by multiple agencies. The Dry Gulch fire has been burning in the Dry Gulch area west of Asotin Creek Road and is currently at 0% containment. The Silcott fire started in the area of Silcott Grade Road, west of the city of Clarkston, and is currently at 10% containment.
