Update on Body Found in the Snake River

On July 3rd, 2020, the Garfield County Sheriff’s Office was contacted by Whitcom who advised of a dead body in the Snake River near 21 Wawawai Grade Rd in Garfield County.  Whitman County deployed their marine unit and recovered the body.  Garfield County Coroner and deputies responded, and the coroner pronounced the person dead at the scene.

On July 3, 2020 Garfield County Sheriff’s Office was informed of a body found in the Snake River.  Both Whitman County and Garfield County Sheriff’s Offices responded to the scene near the Lower Granite Dam, on the Garfield County side of the river.  The body has since been recovered and turned over to the Garfield County coroner where identification will be made, and notification to next of kin can take place.

The Nez Perce Tribe and Forest Service have been working closely to identify and protect sensitive resources near Riggins, Idaho as the Rainbow Family of Living Light congregate near Race Creek to hold their annual gathering. Currently about 500 people are in the area, and more are expected to arrive for the July 4th weekend.

KAMIAH, Idaho – The Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests will begin work this month to replace and
update four restroom facilities at camping areas along the Selway River. New facilities at Boyd Creek Campground, O’Hara Campground, and the 20 Mile dispersed camping area will replace old, deteriorating buildings and meet modern accessibility standards to better serve visitors recreating on the forest’s Moose Creek Ranger District.

Whitman County Corrections Officer Sent to ER After Being Assaulted by Inmate

COLFAX, WA- Thursday evening a Whitman County Corrections Officer was transported to the Colfax Hospital after being assaulted by an inmate.  Officer Morgan Scharff was conducting meal service in the jail when he was assaulted in a commons area by an inmate.

Sound Downtown Summer Concert Series Begins Next Week

Lewiston, ID—The Sound Downtown summer concert series returns to Brackenbury Square in Beautiful Downtown Lewiston on Friday, July 10. The free, family-friendly concerts will be held five Fridays in a row beginning July 10 and including July 17, July 24, July 31, and August 7. Concerts begin at 6:30 PM and attendees are invited to bring a chair or blanket to sit on.
