LEWISTON, ID – Your power bill could go up slightly beginning in January.  It’s currently .4% lower than in 2016, but an increase of 3.5% is likely coming.  The average bill would go up $2.89 per month.  Some commercial bills would also go up by about 1.5%.

2nd Measles Case In Latah County

LATAH COUNTY, ID – There’s a second confirmed case of measles in Latah County.  The first case was a child who was too young to be immunized and the second is a child who had only been partially immunized.  The health department says they were both exposed to the virus on an international trip.

LAPWAI, ID – A trail damaged by downed trees is back open at the Nez Perce National Historical Park.  The Heart of the Monster trail was closed because of safety concerns from the storm May 20th.  Staff and contractors worked to remove the trees and make the trail safe again for hikers.

Free Fishing Weekend

CLARKSTON, WA – Tomorrow starts free fishing weekend in Washington State.  That means you don’t need a license to reel in a big one.  You’ll still have to abide by the catch limits, size limits, and other state and local rules.  You also don’t need a vehicle access pass at the locations where one is usually needed.

CLARKSTON, WA – If your kids need a good lunch this summer, they can get a free one at a variety of locations.  The Washington Superintendent of Public Instruction is sending out a reminder that the Summer Food Service Program will be available for kids once school is out.  It’s designed to help kids in lower-income areas continue to get nutritious meals that they would normally get at school.

CLARKSTON, WA – Marley has gone missing.  He and the family’s other dog got out yesterday after 5:00 pm.  The other dog was hit by a car and was taken to the vet, but Marley got scared and ran off.

Nez Perce Tribe Plans To Sue Midas Gold

LAPWAI, ID – The Nez Perce Tribe intends to sue Midas Gold Corporation for discharging arsenic and other pollutants at a proposed gold mine.  In a press release, the Tribe says the Canadian mining company’s waste at the Stibnite Gold Mine is at the headwaters of the East Fork of the South Fork of the Salmon River.  That area is part of the Tribe’s aboriginal territory.  The territory is subject to the Tribe’s treaty with the United States in 1855.

MOSCOW, ID - A new case of measles has popped up east of the Cascades.  Vancouver, WA was previously the hub of local infection, but now Moscow has a confirmed case.  The Latah County resident is the first to have measles in Idaho since 2001.
