31st Annual Environmental Awareness Days

LEWISTON, ID - The Nez Perce Soil and Water Conservation District will host its 31st annual Environmental Awareness Days May 1st through the 2nd at Hell’s Gate State Park.

From the NPSWCD:
Students rotate through 9 natural resource stations set up throughout the park including conservation, fisheries, biocontrol, forestry, soils, livestock, agriculture, wildlife and a nature walk. Students receive hands on experience as they learn about the life cycle of a salmon,discovering what conservation means, examine wildlife pelts, skulls and more.

University of Idaho's 4th Annual artAbility Showcase This Friday

MOSCOW, ID - The University of Idaho's 4th annual artAbility Showcase will take place Friday at the 1912 Center, 412 E. Third Street from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. This project pairs area artists and U of I student volunteers with members of the community for a series of art workshops.

Forest Officials Warn Visitors of Poor Road Conditions in the Higher Elevations

JOHN DAY, PENDLETON, & BAKER CITY, OR - National Forests would like to remind people that though the snow may have thawed from the foothills most forest roads are still not accessible due to mud, snow or snow drifts and to take caution. Traveling on thawing, saturated, and muddy roads can result in resource damage and safety concerns if visitors are unprepared.

“We typically see multiple incidents this time of year where families head up for the day, get stuck, and end up spending the night or making a very long hike out to look for help,” said Lisa Rynearson, SafetyOfficer for the Malheur National Forest.

Brandon Rinta to Head CWU's Wildcats’ Men’s Basketball Program

ELLENSBURG, WA - After seven years as Lewis-Clark State College's men's basketball coach, Brandon Rinta will be leaving the program. He has been hired as the coach for the Central Washington University Wildcats’ men’s basketball program.

“We are extremely excited to have Coach Rinta join the Wildcat family and lead our men’s basketball program,” Athletics Director Dennis Francois says.

Moscow Man Arrested For Allegedly Making Another Threat Toward Moscow Schools

MOSCOW, ID - A 26-year-old Moscow man who reportedly made threats on a YouTube podcast to shoot up two schools in Moscow was arrested early this morning.  Michael D. Mastro has been charged with Misdemeanor Use of Telephone to Annoy, Terrify, Threaten, Intimidate, Harass, or Offend after he allegedly made another threat.

Wag-a-thon “Virtual Marathon in a Month” Fundraiser for Guiding Eyes for the Blind

YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, NY - A non-profit organization, Guiding Eyes for the Blind, is holding its first annual Wag-a-thon, a “virtual marathon in a month” fundraiser. This organization is dedicated to creating and supporting life-changing connections between people with vision loss and guide dogs. The fundraiser will begin May 1st and participants nationwide are asked to join in.

The Wag-a-thon is a cumulative marathon that you and your dog can do anywhere, at your own pace over the month of May. The goal is to hit 26.2 miles by May 31 while raising funds for Guiding Eyes for the Blind. It’s an opportunity for people and dogs alike to stay active and do good, and participation is simple:
