Decision Clears Way for Hazardous Fuels Reduction Near Lowell

KAMIAH, ID - Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests Supervisor Cheryl Probert has approved a plan that is designed to improve forest health and reduce hazardous fuels in the Community Protections Zone of Lowell. The Lowell Wildland Urban Interface project will treat 166 acres on the Lochsa/Powell and Moose Creek Ranger Districts.

Secretary of State Forwards Cases of Potential Voter Fraud to County Prosecutors

OLYMPIA, WA - Following a study involving Washington and four other states, 74 cases of possible voter fraud will be turned over to local prosecutors by the Secretary of State.  Those individuals have been identified as possibly voting more than once or voting on behalf of someone who was deceased, accounting for .002% percent of the 3.36 million votes cast in last year’s General Election in Washington.  There was one case in Asotin County and one case in Whitman County.

Idaho's Unemployment Drops to Lowest Rate Since 2007

BOISE, ID - Idaho’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate fell to its lowest level in 10 years last month, matching the state’s record low of 2.9% in June 2007.  The one tenth-of-a-percent decline was the sixth consecutive monthly decrease in the unemployment rate and is a result of the first substantial increase to Idaho’s labor force since February.

Clarkston Woman Busted Three Times in Eight Days For Driving on Suspended License

CLARKSTON, WA - A 26-year-old Clarkston woman was busted for the third time in eight days for driving with a suspended license and not having a required interlock device after officials say she eluded an Asotin County Sheriff's Deputy while under the influence of alcohol.  Jennifer Vig was booked into the Asotin County Jail Tuesday night on charges of Attempt to Elude, Driving While License Suspended 3rd, Driving Under the Influence, and an Ignition Interlock Device violation.

Lewiston Man Arrested on Weapons Offense

LEWISTON, ID - A 47-year-old Lewiston man was arrested yesterday afternoon after he allegedly pointed a loaded shotgun at another man at a downtown Lewiston business.  The Lewiston Police Department says David Helm was booked into the Nez Perce County Adult Detention Center for Aggravated Assault and Possession of a Stolen Firearm following the incident at The Right Spot in the 1300 block of G Street.

CHS &LHS DECA Chapters Will Host 6th Annual Drive 4 UR School Event

CLARKSTON, WA - The Clarkston and Lewiston High School DECA Chapters will be hosting the 6th Annual Drive 4 UR School event at Joe Hall Ford in Lewiston on Sunday, September 24th.

From the Clarkston School District:
Each school will have five cars to be used for test drives which will be held from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM in fifteen minute intervals.
