Effort Launched to Identify All Idaho Military Memorials

BOISE, ID - Governor Butch Otter has announced that the Idaho Division of Veterans Services is launching an effort to identify all Idaho monuments and memorials honoring the military and veterans.

“It’s important for us all to remember with gratitude all those who made the ultimate sacrifice to protect our nation, our people and our way of life,” Otter says.

UPDATE on Orofino Shooting

OROFINO, ID - The investigation into a fatal shooting in Orofino Monday evening is continuing.  Law enforcement officials have spent the day going through the residence in the 12000 block of Laqa Avenue where the shooting reportedly took place at about 7:23 p.m.  The victim was identified as 23-year-old Samantha S. Fignani of Orofino.  The incident is being investigated as a homicide; no suspects have been arrested as of this time.

Southeast Washington Coalition Wins 2017 Governor’s Smart Communities Award

OLYMPIA, WA - A coalition consisting of Asotin, Columbia, and Garfield Counties; the City of Clarkston; and the Town of Starbuck has been awarded a 2017 Smart Communities Award for the Southeast Washington Coalition Shoreline Master Program Update.  The five-jurisdiction plan allows for consistency among local jurisdictions while simultaneously being tailored to each individual region.

Lewiston & Clarkston Residents Now Protected With 'Automatic AID' From Four Fire Districts

LEWISTON, ID - The Clarkston Fire Department, Asotin County Fire District #1, Lewiston Fire Department, and Wheatland Fire District have signed an automatic aid agreement for all future structure fires. The agreement, which had been in the works for about 14 months, went "live" this morning at 8:00 a.m.
