Lewiston Man Arrested on Weapons Offense

LEWISTON, ID - A 47-year-old Lewiston man was arrested yesterday afternoon after he allegedly pointed a loaded shotgun at another man at a downtown Lewiston business.  The Lewiston Police Department says David Helm was booked into the Nez Perce County Adult Detention Center for Aggravated Assault and Possession of a Stolen Firearm following the incident at The Right Spot in the 1300 block of G Street.

CHS &LHS DECA Chapters Will Host 6th Annual Drive 4 UR School Event

CLARKSTON, WA - The Clarkston and Lewiston High School DECA Chapters will be hosting the 6th Annual Drive 4 UR School event at Joe Hall Ford in Lewiston on Sunday, September 24th.

From the Clarkston School District:
Each school will have five cars to be used for test drives which will be held from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM in fifteen minute intervals.

Free Nitrate Screenings for Private Well Owners at the Latah County Fair

MOSCOW, ID - The Idaho Department of Environmental Quality will offer a free nitrate screening to private well owners at the Latah County Fair tomorrow through Sunday.

From the DEQ:
Nitrate, a chemical form of nitrogen found naturally in small amounts in soil and ground water, is the most widespread contaminant in Idaho ground water. Some land use practices and human activities may increase nitrate in ground water to dangerous levels.

Avista has Planned Outages in Pierce, Weippe, Musselshell, & Surrounding Areas on Fri.

SPOKANE, WA - Avista will be performing maintenance and infrastructure upgrades in Pierce, Weippe, Musselshell, and the surrounding area on Friday. There will be a planned outage between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and noon. They are estimating that approximately 655 customers will be affected by the outage and the customers who will be impacted by the outage will be notified.

Moscow Police Investigate Alleged Social Media Threat Against MHS Students

MOSCOW, ID - Up to 10 Moscow High School students were the subject of an alleged threat made on the social media site, Snapchat, Sunday night.  Moscow Police Chief James Fry says at this time, there is no danger to those students or the community.  The student who allegedly made the threat is not in school and the investigation is continuing.

Attorney General Wasden Encourages Consumers to act to Prevent Identity Theft

BOISE, ID - Attorney General Lawrence Wasden would like to encourage consumers to act to prevent identity theft. Hackers were able to recently access personal information of 143 million Americans at Equifax. The exposed data includes consumers’ names, Social Security Numbers, birth dates, and addresses. The hackers also were able to steal credit card numbers for about 209,000 consumers and dispute documents with personal identifying information for about 182,000 consumers.
