Body Found in Snake River

On July 3, 2020 Garfield County Sheriff’s Office was informed of a body found in the Snake River.  Both Whitman County and Garfield County Sheriff’s Offices responded to the scene near the Lower Granite Dam, on the Garfield County side of the river.  The body has since been recovered and turned over to the Garfield County coroner where identification will be made, and notification to next of kin can take place.

The Nez Perce Tribe and Forest Service have been working closely to identify and protect sensitive resources near Riggins, Idaho as the Rainbow Family of Living Light congregate near Race Creek to hold their annual gathering. Currently about 500 people are in the area, and more are expected to arrive for the July 4th weekend.

update four restroom facilities at camping areas along the Selway River. New facilities at Boyd Creek Campground, O’Hara Campground, and the 20 Mile dispersed camping area will replace old, deteriorating buildings and meet modern accessibility standards to better serve visitors recreating on the forest’s Moose Creek Ranger District.

COLFAX, WA- Thursday evening a Whitman County Corrections Officer was transported to the Colfax Hospital after being assaulted by an inmate.  Officer Morgan Scharff was conducting meal service in the jail when he was assaulted in a commons area by an inmate.

New Idaho Law Requires Electronic Smoking Device Retailers To Obtain a Tobacco Permit

It is a criminal offense to sell tobacco products or electronic smoking devices in the State of Idaho without a tobacco permit.  In order to legally sell any substance containing, made of, or derived from tobacco or nicotine; or electronic smoking devices, components, parts, or accessories to the public in Idaho, retailers must have an Idaho tobacco permit, issued by the Department of Health and Welfare's Idaho Tobacco Project.
