LEWISTON, ID – If you’re looking for a way to volunteer as one of your New Year’s Resolutions, the Red Cross needs help.  They’re looking for people to staff their Disaster Action Teams.  Team members respond to about 62,000 disasters every year, many of which are home fires.

BOLO - LEWISTON, ID - Be on the lookout for a bunch of stuff.  One Lewiston family was robbed between December 14th and the 24th of several expensive tools and toys.  In addition, someone tried to steal their car a few days ago.

LEWISTON, ID – Lewis-Clark State College and the YWCA are teaming up to help the community on Martin Luther King Jr. Day.  January 21st is also Human Rights Day and LCSC faculty, staff, and students are volunteering in a variety of ways.  They’re encouraging anyone interested in also helping out to show up at the YWCA at 2:00 pm.

Idaho Appealing Prisoner Gender Reassignment Surgery Order

Adree Edmo Convicted Of Sexual Abuse Of A Child

BOISE, ID – The Idaho Department of Correction is appealing a District Court ruling ordering them to provide gender reassignment surgery to an inmate.  Adree Edmo, a Bannock County resident, was sentenced to three to ten years for sexual abuse of a child under 16 years.  Edmo now identifies as a woman and wants the surgery to become one physically.

Planned 911 Outage

OROFINO, ID – The 911 service in Clearwater County will be down starting on January 15th for about eight hours.  The Clearwater County Sheriff’s Office says they were notified today that the outage will start at 10:00 pm on the 15th and will end no later than 6:00 am the next day. 

Risch Elected Foreign Relations Committee Chairman

Third Idahoan To Hold Position

WASHINGTON, D.C. – A U.S. Senator from Idaho is now chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.  Jim Risch was elected to the position yesterday.  As chairman, he’ll oversee the committee that handles legislation concerning the conduct of U.S. foreign policy, including foreign assistance, treaties, and declarations of war.
