"Weathered and Aged" Human Remains Found in Lewis County

NEZPERCE, ID - The Lewis County Sheriff's Office is investigating the discovery of partial human remains in Six Mile Canyon.  A hiker found the remains on November 30th and promptly notified officials.  The Sheriff’s Office and Idaho State Police Investigation Division conducted a primary search locating the human remains with the assistance of the reporting party.  Due to steep terrain, large rock formations, and thick underbrush the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office conducted a secondary search comprised of a larger search group yesterday.

Asotin & Klickitat Counties Added to Stage 1 Burn Ban in Eastern Washington, 9 Counties Now Under Burn Bans

CLARKSTON, WA - Stagnant weather conditions continue to expand and persist in central and eastern Washington, prompting the Washington Department of Ecology to include two more counties in the Stage 1 burn ban.  Beginning at 9:00 a.m. tomorrow, the burn ban will be expanded to include Asotin and Klickitat counties. The burn ban will continue in Ferry, Pend Oreille, Stevens, Chelan, Douglas, Kittitas, and Okanogan counties until further notice.

Lewiston Firefighters Battle Two Fires in Last Two Days

LEWISTON, ID - The Lewiston Fire Department responded to two fires in the past two days.  The first one was reported at 7:32 p.m. last night in a detached shop in the 3700 block of 13th Street.  Meanwhile, Lewiston Fire Department Station 2 personnel were dispatched to a vehicle fire in the 1500 block of Bryden Avenue at 9:03 a.m. this morning.

OLYMPIA, WA - The Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction’s Child Nutrition Services section would like to remind nonresidential licensed child-care centers, family day-care homes, emergency shelters, at-risk centers, and some adult day care centers in the state to participate in the federal Child and Adult Care Food Program. The federal food program reimburses meals at established rates based on the family income of the children and adults served.

 

Teenage Videographers in WA are Invited to Participate in the Teen Video Challenge

OLYMPIA, WA - Teenage videographers across Washington are invited to participate in the 2018 Teen Video Challenge. This is a Collaborative Summer Library Program sponsored competition, hosted by the Washington State Library.

The national video competition encourages teens to get involved with their public library's summer reading program.
“We’ve been hosting the Teen Video Challenge for quite a while now, and I’m amazed each year at the creativity and talent that our state’s young videographers possess,” said State Librarian Cindy Aden.

Opening Reception for "Woman Redefined: Women's Activism in History" Exhibit on Sat.

LEWISTON, ID - An opening reception for Lewis-Clark State College students in professor Amy Canfield’s American Women’s History class will be held on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at the LCSC Center for Arts and History. The students have put together an exhibit called "Woman Redefined: Women's Activism in History."

The students researched, designed, and implemented this exhibit based around the theme of women’s activism, including the topics of women and politics, and women in society.

Dworshak Dam & Reservoir Information & Holiday Hours

AHSAHKA, ID - Dworshak Dam and Reservoir recreation staff have completed winterizing several recreation facilities this week. Big Eddy, Bruce’s Eddy, and the fishing wall area below the dam will remain open for use during the winter season.

Restrooms at Viewpoint are closed; rangers advise visitors that the full-service restrooms at Big Eddy, located about 1.6 miles north on Viewpoint Road, are open for use 24 hours a day, every day.

Pearl Harbor Remembrance Ceremony Tomorrow at 11:00 a.m.

LEWISTON, ID - The Lewis Clark Valley Veterans Council along with the Fleet Reserve Association Branch 63, VFW Post 10043, and all of the other LC Valley Veteran groups will hold a Pearl Harbor Remembrance Ceremony tomorrow at the Lewiston Veterans of Foreign Wars beginning at 11:00 a.m.
