GENESEE, ID – Here’s a quick reminder that the Volunteer Firefighters in Genesee are hosting their 53rd annual crab feed fundraiser starting at 3:00 this afternoon.  It runs until 7:00 pm.  The funds generated will go to Genesee Ambulance for emergency medical needs in the community.  It will go to both equipment and training for their EMTs.

WINCHESTER, ID - The storm that's hitting Washington right now will soon roll into Idaho if it hasn't started already.  At 7:00 am White Bird Hill Summit was bare.  The top of the Lewiston Hill is bare, and Lolo Pass has some snow, but the report says there's good surface friction for driving.  4th of July Pass by Coeur d'Alene is slushy, but it also has good surface friction.

COLFAX, WA - A winter storm is headed east through Washington.  At just before 7:00 am, the Washington State Department of Transportation reports State Route 26 from Colfax to Washtucna is covered with snow.  Beyond that to Vantage there is snow in places on the highway. 

Orofino's Shopko Store Closing

OROFINO, ID – Orofino’s Shopko store didn’t survive the most recent cuts of store closings.  The company filed for bankruptcy in January and has since announced the closing of more than 100 stores.  Lewiston’s store has survived, but Pullman’s Shopko is among them.  Other stores surrounding Lewiston have also been announced.

LENORE, ID - An agent of the Federal Bureau of Investigation was shot this morning in Lenore, ID.  Nez Perce Tribal Spokeswoman Kayeloni Scott says the agent was serving a search warrant and the shooter has been taken into custody. 

Asotin County Sheriff Reacts To Initiative 1639

ASOTIN COUNTY, WA – Sheriff John Hilderbrand says no one is going to confiscate guns in Asotin County without good cause.  He’s adding his two cents to the Initiative 1639 conversation.  He says the initiative comes close to being unconstitutional and will add considerably more work to his staff without adding funding from the state.

LEWISTON, ID – Colder temperatures and snow are on the way to our area.  The National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Statement for much of southeast Washington and north-central Idaho.  By Sunday the high temperature will be 24 degrees.  Things are expected to warm after that, but not much.  The high on Wednesday in Lewiston will be freezing.

LEWISTON, ID – A local animal rescue hopes you’ll come eat their Spaghetti.  Helping Hands Rescue’s Spaghetti Feed is this Saturday.  The 4th annual event is designed to raise money to keep animals healthy while they look for good homes.

Ham Radio Course Begins In March

LEWISTON, ID – A local group is offering to teach you how to talk to the world.  A beginner ham radio technician course is coming up in March.  The LC Valley Amateur Radio Emergency Service group is hosting the course.  It begins March 12th and spans 6 classes with an exam on April 23rd.  The classes run from 6:30 pm until 8:30 pm each day.

CLARKSTON, WA – Kids can learn to make a high-tech duct tape wallet at the Asotin County Library.  The February calendar contains all sorts of interesting things to do including ukulele playing, glass etching, and learning to do block coding on a duct tape wallet that kids in grades 4-7 will make.
