LEWISTON, ID – Bill Jollymore has resigned his employment at the Nez Perce County Sheriff’s Office.  Jollymore was Chief Deputy for the Sheriff.  He also owns two businesses in the LC Valley.  The Sheriff’s Office released the information saying he quit to pursue his business interests. 

Legal Times For LC Valley Fireworks

LEWISTON, ID – It’s legal to set off fireworks in Lewiston now, and west of the river tomorrow.  It became legal on June 28th in Lewiston to set off fireworks that are non-aerial and also do not blow up.  If you buy them in town from a legal vendor, they’re ok to use in the city.  You can set them off between 9:00 am and 11:00 pm each day through July 5th.  The fine for using illegal fireworks is $999.

WA Bear Hunting Rules Change

OLYMPIA, WA – Fish & Wildlife Commissioners loosened up the fall bear-hunting season rules.  All hunting areas start their season August 1st now.  Six of the 11 areas in the state started at different times previously.  The new bag limit is two bears.

KOOSKIA, ID – Teens have been busy in the forest this summer learning the value of hard work in the forest.  The Clearwater Basin Youth Conservation Corps started their season the week of June 17th.  Since then crews have been working all over the Clearwater Valley with professionals from the Forest Service, Army Corps of Engineers, the National Park Service, and more.

LEWISTON, ID – If you have something to say about ITD projects in north central Idaho, now’s the time to do it.  The Idaho Transportation Department is accepting public comment through August 2nd on their plan for the next several years.  The Transportation Improvement Plan is in draft form for fiscal years 2020-2026.  What they call their “roadmap” covers changes to highways, bridges, bicycle and pedestrian facilities, safety, railroad crossings, airports, and more.

JOSEPH, OR – Strong thunderstorms may hit northeastern Oregon tonight.  The National Weather Service is warning citizens of the danger.  The storm will likely be more severe in northeastern Oregon, but could move north across the border before decreasing in intensity.

LEWISTON, ID – Sydni Stocks is back in Lewiston after a trip to represent the United States in martial arts in Slovakia.  The 15-year-old 2nd degree black belt from Lewiston was ready to compete in six events, but a shot to the jaw kept her out of one of them.  She says she was ready to go, but the team doctor suggested her massively swollen jaw might need a little rest. “So much inflammation, I couldn’t move my jaw.”

LEWISTON, ID – If you heard a lot of noise over the Lewiston sky this morning, it was a group of World War II fighters coming to town.  The Radials N’ Rivers Fly-In is tomorrow.  Today the planes are coming in throughout the day to find a good place to park for viewing.  This morning it was the P51 Mustangs and P40 Warhawks.
