Idaho’s October’s Unemployment Unchanged at 2.9 Percent

Nationally unemployment increased one-tenth of a percentage point to 3.6 percent in October. Total unemployed increased by 86,000 from September for a total of 5.86 million people looking for work. One year earlier, the national unemployment rate was 3.8 percent, and the number of unemployed reached 6 million.

Idaho’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate remained at 2.9 percent in October for the fourth consecutive month.

Swans Returning to Skagit, Snohomish, and Whatcom Counties

OLYMPIA - Trumpeter and tundra swans are returning to Whatcom, Skagit, Snohomish, and other western Washington counties this fall. The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) has re-established a hotline to report dead, sick, or injured swans in northwest Washington counties. This is part its ongoing effort to assess the impact of lead poisoning on trumpeter and tundra swans.

Washington, D.C. – Idaho is home to many veterans and currently-serving members of the U.S. Armed Forces who have demonstrated exemplary military service during their careers.  On Veterans Day 2019, U.S. Senator Mike Crapo (R-Idaho) launched a new monthly social media feature to highlight an Idaho servicemember’s or veteran’s service to our country.  The new feature, #MilitaryMonday, will take place on the second Monday of each month.

Nez Perce County Courthouse to Remain Downtown

 Nez Perce County has been evaluating options to replace the courthouse at the corner of 13th and Main Street and, "The building suffers from multiple deficiencies, including structural damage suffered in a 2017 earthquake. County officials have been exploring the best way to replace the courthouse for the past three years, with the most recent discussions geared toward a centralized location with more space to build and grow."

'State of Lung Cancer' 2019 Report Finds that Idaho Ranks Above Average for Life-saving Lung Cancer Screening

BOISE, ID – Idaho ranks 13th out of 51 states and territories for people who are eligible for lung cancer screening and receive it. And more Americans than ever are surviving the disease according to a new report from the American Lung Association.
