 Lapwai, Idaho – On Thursday, May 21, 2015 from 6:00pm-8:00pm at the Pi-Nee-Waus Community Center, the Lapwai Community Coalition will be hosting an event titled “Tell It To Me Straight”. The event is to be hosted by John Beranek, a motivational speaker who utilizes story-telling, discussion, music and group interaction to promote awareness, prevention and change. The event is set to provide a straight-forward conversation from honest local teens to adults about topics from substance use to texting and driving. There will be limited space and a sign-up is needed.

Responses to Clearwater Papers Permit to Build

The public comment period on Clearwater Paper's permit to build application for a continuous batch digester will start around the first of June according to Dan Pitman Senior Air Quality Engineer for the Idaho Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ). Two groups, the Idaho Conservation League and the Nez Perce Tribe, requested the comment period as did one individual, John Claassen of Asotin.

Lisa Ann Jones Missing Person

Update - Lisa Ann has been found, LPD would like to thank the public for their assistance.

On May 18, 2015 the Lewiston Police Department received a missing person report for Lisa Ann Jones. Jones
was said to have walked away from her care home in the morning with a planned return later in the day.

ROC Rescue Outreach Center

The Reach Out Center (ROC) has been in operation for three years. They provide food, clothing, rest, laundry facilities, and in the winter, shelter for area homeless and low income. They will be starting a fund drive soon to raise money for a shelter for men women and children. 

Clakston DECA Takes Over

CLARKSTON, WA - Clarkston DECA Chapter is sponsoring the 35th annual DECA Takeover at Gateway Square on Friday, May 22 from 8 AM to 2:15 PM. Students train for 6 days prior to the takeover day and learn every aspect of the position they're assigned. Eight businesses are involved in the DECA Takeover this year, with 120 students divided amongst those businesses.
Clarkston DECA "takes over" area businesses, which include Albertsons, Starbucks, ColorTyme, Pizza Hut, McDonalds, Baskin and Robins, Gateway Golf, and Kenzie's Koffee.
