LEWISTON, ID - The Region II Small Business Development Center at Lewis-Clark State College will be holding six workshops next month covering QuickBooks, basic accounting and record keeping, increasing sales through web sites, and using social and local online marketing.

Governor Appoints WSU's Anna-Maria Shannon to Washington State Arts Commission Board

PULLMAN, WA - Governor Jay Inslee has appointed Anna-Maria Shannon, interim director of the Washington State University Museum of Art, to the board of the Washington State Arts Commission.

Shannon was one of three new board members named by Gov. Jay Inslee at the Washington State Arts Commission (ArtsWA) board meeting held Aug. 1-2 in Wenatchee.

Dayton Resident Selected to Lead Governor’s Salmon Recovery Office

OLYMPIA, WA - A Dayton resident, Steve Martin, has been selected to lead the Governor’s Salmon Recovery Office. This office coordinates the efforts of 25 community-based watershed groups and seven regional organizations across the state that are in charge of implementing federally approved recovery plans for salmon, steelhead, and bull trout.

Oregon Man Seriously Injured in Back Country Pickup vs. Motorcycle Collision

CLEARWATER COUNTY, ID - A 58-year-old Oregon man was seriously injured in a pickup vs. motorcycle collision in Clearwater County yesterday at about 3:41 p.m.  Sheriff's Deputies, Pierce Ambulance, a Clearwater County Back Country Medics helicopter, and Life Flight were dispatched to milepost 6.5 on Silver Creek Road.

Hanover Fire Grows to Nearly 6,500 Acres

RIGGINS, ID - The Hanover Fire, which is located five miles southwest of the Square Mountain Lookout in the Gospel Hump Wilderness, is now 6,467 acres.  It was caused by lightning on August 1st and is burning in timber and grass.  At this time the fire is 0% contained with 294 personnel working on it.  A public meeting is scheduled for tonight at 8:00 p.m. (MDT) in Riggins at the Salmon River High School Gym.

Howell Munitions & Technology Employees Begin Temporary Layoffs Today

LEWISTON, ID - For the second time since February 28th, an unknown number of employees at Howell Munitions & Technology are being affected by temporary layoffs.  According to a letter obtained by Daily Fly that was given to employees today, the "Summer Shut Down" will last through August 28th, although President Jansen Jones says employees may be called back earlier "should the need arise."

Rural Whitman County Couple Dies in Apparent Murder-Suicide

HAY, WA - Two people were found dead in a reported murder-suicide at a home in rural Whitman County this morning.  Sheriff Brett Myers says a female caller contacted 911 just after 7:00 a.m. to report that she had shot her husband because of health complications he was suffering from.  When law enforcement and emergency personnel arrived, they found both individuals were deceased.
