Today is Fee Free Day for Public Lands Thanks to the Great American Outdoors Act

The President signed the Great American Outdoors Act into law yesterday, which will significantly help address the historically underfunded, multi-billion-dollar deferred maintenance backlog at our national parks and public lands. In celebration of this historic achievement, U.S. Secretary of the Interior David L. Bernhardt announced that entrance fees paid by visitors coming to lands managed by the Department will be waived on August 5, 2020. Secretary Bernhardt also announced that August 4th will be designated “Great American Outdoors Day,” a fee-free day each year moving forward to commemorate the signing of the Act.

Today will be in the high 90's in the LC Valley, Sounds like a perfect day to escape the heat and head over to one of the parks the great Pacific Northwest has to offer.

RIGGINS—Starting tonight, the Idaho Transportation Department will open US-95 at the slide area south of Riggins for nighttime travel. Moving forward, the temporary road around the base of the highway will be open 24/7 unless closures are required for safety concerns or future repairs.

The first sockeye of 2020, a naturally produced female, returned to Redfish Lake Creek trap near Stanley on July 31 and a second arrived on Aug. 2, which are among the 412 sockeye that have crossed Lower Granite Dam through Aug. 2 and signals a substantially larger return to Idaho than last year.
