LEWISTON, ID - Lewis-Clark State College today announced the next coach for its baseball team.  Jake Taylor was a standout for the Warriors' 1992 National Championship team.  He will replace Jeremiah Robbins, who is leaving at the end of the 2018 season in order to create a program at Umpqua Junior College in Oregon and be closer to his and his wife’s families.

Late Winter Precipitation Boosts Washington State's Water Supply for Summer

CLARKSTON, WA - Continued cold, snowy weather during late winter brought good news for Washington State's summer water supply.  Officials say the state's snowpack levels are near or above normal for this time of year.  Across the state, the snow supply average is 119% of normal. The lower Snake River snowpack is at 124% of normal.

Number of Washington State Students Experiencing Homelessness is Largest in State History

This is the ninth year in a row the population of students experiencing homelessness has increased

OLYMPIA, WA - Statistics show that nearly one child in every classroom in Washington State is homeless, living in hotels or in cars, or with friends.  Numbers released by the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction show that in 2016-17, 40,934 Washington students were counted as homeless.  That is a 3.2% increase from 2015-16.

Four Idaho Correctional Officers Indicted in Federal Court in Connection With Alleged Drug Ring

BOISE, ID - A Boise federal grand jury has indicted four current correctional officers employed by the Idaho Department of Correction.  U.S. Attorney Bart M. Davis announced today that in addition, the grand jury indicted a former IDOC correctional officer, a former IDOC inmate, and the inmate’s associate.

Public Invited to Comment on Possible Name Change for Cross-State Trail

Should the ‘Iron Horse’ and ‘John Wayne Pioneer’ trail names be changed?

OLYMPIA, WA - The Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission is considering consolidating and changing the names of the Iron Horse State Park Trail and the John Wayne Pioneer Trail, and the agency is asking for the public's recommendations.  The two trails are technically one trail - the Iron Horse State Park Trail. However, many people identify the eastern portion - from the Columbia River east to the Idaho border - as the John Wayne Pioneer Trail.

Access YES! Program Deadline is May 15th

LEWISTON, ID - The Idaho Department of Fish and Game's Access YES! program deadline is May 15th. This program promotes public access for sportsmen to hunt, fish, and trap on private lands.
