Asotin County Fire District #1 fire and EMS crews were dispatched to a garage fire at about 1pm Saturday afternoon. Lewiston Fire and Medics also responded through an auto aid partnership to the fire on 24th Street in the Clarkston Heights.

Upon arrival the first crews encountered smoke and a small fire in the southeast corner of the shop. The property owner had taken a hose in and dowsed the fire once before crews arrived, but was driven out of structure by smoke.

The crews quickly knocked the fire down. The cause of the fire was wood near a wood stove that ignited.

There were no reported injuries and minor damage to the shop.

LEWISTON, Idaho – The No. 24 Lewis-Clark State Baseball team opened the Cascade Conference season on Saturday with a doubleheader at home against Oregon Tech. Compared to the season-opening road trip, the Warrior bats were relatively silent, aside from a four-hit day for Riley Way. Both LC starters, Tallon Thomason in game one and Trent Sellers in game two, had solid outings to help the Warriors to a pair of victories (3-1 and 4-3). Luke White provided the walk-off single in the game two victory that saw two defensive gems from Sam Linscott and Aidan Nagle.

CLARKSTON, WA  - Saturday, February 27th, the volunteer organization Blessing Beds was set up outside of the Clarkston Walmart, accepting donations and trying to raise awareness for their good cause. Helping them do so, was quite the cast of characters as well! 

LEWISTON, Idaho – The fourth-ranked LC State Men’s Basketball team matched is scoring efforts from Thursday with a 99-67 victory over Multnomah on Friday night. The Warriors, now 18-1 on the season, have won their last 10 games and are 11-0 at home. Five LC players scored in double-digits and two had double-figure rebound performances on a night where every Warrior scored. Nathan Fromm led the Warriors with 18 points and Damek Mitchell grabbed 12 boards.

LEWISTON, ID - A Clarkston woman is in custody after crashing her car and fleeing the scene in Lewiston Friday night. On February 26th, at 8:45 P.M., emergency personnel responded to the 400 block of D Street for the report of an injury collision. Witnesses reported a car crashing into a parked vehicle on D Street. The driver fled the scene of the accident with her small child in tote.

LEWISTON, Idaho – LC State Cross Country hosted its second invitational of the year coming off of a track meet last weekend in Caldwell. Windy conditions in the Orchards on Friday, with gusts registering around 40 miles per hour, meant the Warriors had another mentally tough meet. The women placed second with a score of 51, with Callie Johnson, Rylee Brown and Emily Adams in the top ten. Cole Olsen led the men to a second-place finish with a score of 40 and won the race. Clayton VanDyke and Chase Barrow followed Olsen and both earned spots in the top ten.

The Idaho County Sheriff's Office is advising motorist caution as we continue to deal with multiple vehicle slide offs and accidents.

On Friday February 26, 2021, at approximately 12:10 p.m., the Idaho State Police investigated a fatal crash northbound on State Highway 55 at milepost 59, near Horseshoe Bend.

According to Idaho Fish & Game, as of this Friday morning (2/26), brood collection has started to pick up. So far, with the help of over 130 anglers, we have tubed 49 steelhead and sent 41 of those to the hatchery (26 females and 15 males).

NEW ORLEANS – After a dominant performance at the Polar Vortex Classic last weekend, Clayton VanDyke was named the USTFCCCA West Region Track Athlete of the Year. The Vernal, Utah native won all three events he participated in and qualified for nationals in the 1,000m as the third seed in the event.

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The House of Representatives passed the "Equality Act" Bill, or H.R. 5 on Thursday, with a 224-206 vote. Three Republicans joined the Democrats in the vote. The bill would extend federal anti-discrimination protections to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender Americans.

The Lewis-Clark Valley Healthcare Foundation today announced the fourth year of its grant cycle will open with Fast-Track Grants on March 1 and the larger Impact Grants on June 1.

The Latah County Sheriff's Office has sent out a warning about a new scam that has hit the area. In this scam, a Latah County Resident was contacted by a supposed close friend on Facebook, letting her know of a grant opportunity where she could make some serious money.

AHSAHKA, Idaho – In order to meet flood control targets for March and April, Dworshak Dam will be increasing releases starting Sunday Feb. 28 at 7 p.m.. This increase will result in the river rising approximately 3.5 feet between 7 p.m. Sunday night and 1 a.m. Monday morning.
