KAMIAH, ID - The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s U.S. Forest Service will increase map prices to $14 beginning January 1st. Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests offices sell maps for the Clearwater National Forest and Nez Perce National Forest, as well as for specific wilderness and recreation areas.

Disability Action Center NW Will Celebrate International Day of Persons with Disabilities on Wed.

LEWISTON, ID - The Disability Action Center NW will be celebrating International Day of Persons with Disabilities by hosting an open house card making party Wednesday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.

The annual observance of this day started in 1992 by the United Nations General Assembly. It aims to promote the rights and well-being of people with disabilities in all spheres of society, and this year’s theme is “Transformation towards a sustainable and resilient society for all.”

Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests is Seeking Public Comment

KAMIAH, ID - The Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests is seeking the public to comment on the proposed actions of the Center-Johnson project.

From the NP-CNF:
A collaborative process was used to develop this project and the proposed actions. During the comment period the District Ranger Shinn is requesting feedback from you on the Proposed Action for Scoping during this 30-day comment period. The comment period is to identify any potential issues that have not already been identified during the collaborative process.

Area Roads Becoming Icy

LEWISTON, ID - The Nez Perce County Sheriff's Office is reminding drivers in the region that due to decreased temperatures, several area roads have become icy, causing hazardous driving conditions.

"The roads in Waha leading to the Craig Mountain area are currently snow and ice covered and have caused recent vehicle accidents.  The Sheriff's Office, along with all first responders, and County Roads would like to remind everyone to please be cautious when driving in the area and to avoid the hazardous road conditions if possible," officials say in a press release.

UPDATE: Lapwai Woman Succumbs to Injuries Following Rollover Crash on Lapwai Road

LAPWAI, ID - UPDATE: Family members have confirmed that Ms. Simpson has sadly succumbed to her injuries.  ISP says she passed away at 6:40 a.m. at St Joseph Regional Medical Center.


A 46-year-old Lapwai woman was injured in a one-vehicle rollover crash at milepost one on Lapwai Road at about 10:53 p.m. last night.  The Idaho State Police says Toni M. Simpson was driving near the junction of Lindsay Creek Road when she lost control of her 1988 Jeep Cherokee.

Plummer Man Sent to Prison on Federal Child Pornography Charge

Nez Perce Tribe personnel found computer drives & storage media outside a building, turned over to FBI

COEUR D'ALENE, ID - A 67-year-old Plummer man was sentenced yesterday in federal court to 70 months in prison followed by 10 years of supervised release for possession of child pornography.  Scott Allen Reed pled guilty to that charge on June 28th.   According to the plea agreement, personnel working for the Nez Perce Tribe found two bins of computer drives and computer storage media abandoned outside a building.  While reviewing the items to identify the owner, the personnel saw child pornography.  The items were turned over to the FBI.

New Traffic Cameras Available For Those Traveling on State Route 26

WASHTUCNA, WA - Travelers can now get weather information and a look at highway conditions from two new weather stations with traffic cameras installed along State Route 26 in eastern Washington.  The camera feeds are now available on the Washington State Department of Transportation Traffic and Cameras web page.
