LEWISTON, ID – If you know of a teacher who has made a huge impact on kids and the community, you have one day left to recognize him or her through an L.I.F.E. award.  The Lewiston Independent Foundation for Excellence is accepting nominations for the Martha S. Baskin Outstanding Elementary Teacher Award.  The endowment created by Mrs. Baskin’s family gives $1,500 to the teacher chosen from the pool of nominees.

LEWISTON, ID – The case against former Airport Manager Robin Turner has been dropped.  Late yesterday afternoon we got a press release from the Nez Perce County Prosecutor’s office.  It details the events of the investigation that led up to and after the citation of “Obscene Live Conduct In A Public Place”.

MOSCOW, ID – Suspended University of Idaho Professor Denise Bennett released a live video of what she says is the first reading of her suspension letter.  It was streamed live on Tuesday and is still available to watch.  She was placed on suspension and banned from campus for unprofessional conduct.  Later a Vandal Alert alleged meth use and access to firearms and that students should contact authorities if they see her on campus.

LEWISTON, ID – Just 31 days into the new year, Idaho’s new Governor is signing two Executive Orders.  His press office sent out the information yesterday that he’ll be holding a press conference at 3:00 pm Mountain Time to sign the laws that don’t require a vote or conversation with the state’s elected Representatives or Senators.

LEWISTON, ID – Check your freezer for chicken nuggets.  The USDA announced a recall of Tyson nuggets that may have rubber in them.  The nuggets are in a 5-pound plastic package labeled “Tyson WHITE MEAT PANKO CHICKEN NUGGETS” with a use by date of November 26, 2019.  It cas the case code “3308SDL03” on it with time stamps 23:00 through 01:59.

Bill Removes PTSD Physical Injury Requirement

Helps First Responders Suffering From Traumatic Stress

BOISE, ID – A change may be coming to how post-traumatic stress injuries are handled in Idaho.  Right now the law states that to be covered under Worker’s Compensation, a Post Traumatic Stress Injury must be connected to a physical injury. Senate Bill 1028 would remove the physical injury requirement, allowing for coverage of severe psychological injuries that can come as part of being a first-responder.

LEWISTON, ID – Gas prices are down compared to a year ago.  Gasoline stocks are at their highest level on record and severe weather in the Midwest and eastern U.S. are keeping people from their usual driving activity.  AAA Idaho’s Matthew Conde says instability in Venezuela could lead to an increase in prices of crude oil.

ISP Makes Biggest Marijuana Bust On Record

BOISE, ID – Idaho State Police troopers snagged their biggest drug bust anyone can remember.  A Portland man allegedly tried to bring 6,701 lbs of marijuana into the state in a truck.  A trooper was inspecting the tractor-trailer rig at the East Boise Port of Entry.  The truck’s bill of lading said it was carrying a load of hemp.  A press release says something about the whole thing made the trooper’s training kick in some suspicion.

LEWISTON, ID – The Lewiston Habitat Store hopes you’ll consider them when you do your spring cleaning.  The retail part of Habitat for Humanity is in need of donations of things that make a house a home.  They are happy to take furniture, appliances, and tools, but also things that create a house like toilets, flooring, paint, doors, and more.
