LEWISTON, ID – Nez Perce Tourism officially opened its doors today.  The Discovery Center at Hells Gate Park hosted the grand opening celebration at noon.

The event had a traditional ribbon cutting, but more traditionally, it hosted drummers, dancers, and cultural experts who told stories about the Nimiipuu. 

Former WSU Student Convicted of 2nd Degree Rape

COLFAX, WA – A former WSU student faces jail time for 2nd Degree Rape.  A jury found 23-year-old Thomas L. Culhane guilty yesterday of both rape and Furnishing Liquor To Minors. 

The convictions come from an incident at his apartment in August of 2017.  A press release from the Prosecutor’s office says Culhane hosted the small party where he served liquor and marijuana to his guests. 

Kamiah Fire Destroys Home

KAMIAH, ID – Kamiah firefighters rushed to a home fire yesterday.  At 12:30 pm, they were called to a motor home that was on fire in a mobile home park in the 200 block of Pine Street.  The home is a total loss, but the fire department was able to keep the fire from spreading to any nearby homes.

Deputy Killed In The Line Of Duty

OLYMPIA, WA – If you see flags at half-staff in Washington today, it’s in honor of a fallen Deputy.  Kittitas County Sheriff’s Deputy Ryan Thompson was killed in the line of duty on March 19th.  His funeral is today.

CLARKSTON, WA – A man was allegedly carjacked in Clarkston early this morning.  At about 3:20 am, Lewiston Police say 42-year-old Marlon D. Davenport threatened the vehicle’s owner in the Albertson’s parking lot in Clarkston.  Roughly 30 minutes later LPD officers stopped the vehicle after finding out that it was stolen.

WHITEBIRD, ID – The road is very slick near Whitebird.  The Idaho Transportation Department cameras show snow falling on Highway 95.  The condition report says the roadway is snowy and very slick. 

Tow Trucks Added To Slow Down, Move Over Law

BOISE, ID – Governor Little is expected to sign a bill this week that adds tow trucks and other emergency vehicles to the slow down, move over law.  The Idaho code requires vehicles to slow down and move into the other lane (when possible) when approaching police, fire, and ambulance vehicles that are on the side of the road with their lights flashing.
