The Lewis-Clark State Warriors celebrated NAIA National Awards Day with 60 student-athletes being named Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athletes. 11 teams were named NAIA Scholar Teams. This is the first year the NAIA has released all of the Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athletes in accordance with National Awards Day.

U of I Moves Up 42 Spots in Value Ranking by U.S. News and World Report

The University of Idaho is the highest-ranked public institution in the West on a list of Top 50 Best Value colleges released today by U.S. News and World Report. U of I is the third-highest ranking public institution nationally on the same list, having climbed 42 spots over last year to No. 37. The top 50 Best Value colleges list contains 46 private institutions.  

WDFW Hatcheries Remain Closed to the Public

Many people visit hatcheries in late summer and early fall to observe spawning activity, or to take advantage of available parking to fish nearby for returning salmon. However, WDFW hatcheries remain closed at this time to ensure the health and safety of hatchery employees, and visitors may find some areas or facilities that are typically open may not be accessible as they have been in past years.

State Fire Mobilization Authorized for the Wawawai Canyon Fire

Whitman County – State fire assistance has been mobilized under the Washington State Fire Services Resource Mobilization Plan in support of local firefighters working to contain the Wawawai Canyon Fire located in Whitman County, near Pullman.  The Wawawai Canyon Fire is burning in grasses and brush.  Washington State Patrol Chief John Batiste authorized the mobilization of state firefighting resources on September 12, 2020, at 5:30 am at the request of Fire Chief Lester Erwin, Whitman County Fire District 12.

100 Deadliest Days End with a Decrease in Fatalities

BOISE—For the second year in a row Idaho has seen a decrease in fatalities during the busy summer months known as the 100 Deadliest Days of Driving. According to preliminary data from the Idaho Transportation Department (ITD), 78 people were killed in crashes on Idaho roads this summer – down from 92 fatalities last year, and 101 in 2018.
