KAMIAH - A small shift in weather is expected today which will bring slightly lower temperatures and higher relative humidity across the area with wind speeds slightly lower than yesterday. Strong thermal belts will continue to allow active fire behavior overnight with lower relative humidity. Resources across the area continue to be limited and significant coordination and sharing of resources is ongoing. Smoke from neighboring fires continues to impact the area.

Record Fuel Demand Pushes Idaho Gas Prices Higher

BOISE – Road trip season is off and running, taking gas prices along for the ride.  According to AAA, today’s price to fill up in Idaho is $3.58, which is nine cents more than a week ago and 30 cents more than a month ago.  Meanwhile, the national average currently sits at $3.15, which is two cents more than a week ago and seven cents more than a month ago.

Leland Complex Fire Upate

The Leland Complex Wildfire is comprised of two fires. The first is the Sand Mountain Fire, which is 2.5 miles east of Laird Park, Latah County, Idaho at 0% containment. The second is the Pine Creek Fire, located 2.5 miles east of Juliaetta, Idaho, currently 75% contained. There is about 180 emergency personnel working to contain this fire.

This line will be staffed from 8 a.m.-8 p.m. each day for general forest closure questions and general fire information questions.
