Washington Dept. of Health Already Seeing Influenza Cases Across State

OLYMPIA, WA - Washington Department of Health officials are already seeing influenza cases across the state, and they expect the number to rise in the coming weeks.

"Most healthy people who get the flu don’t need urgent medical care; however, people in a high-risk group and those who are very sick should contact their health care provider as soon as possible,” health officer for WSDH Dr. Kathy Lofy says.

Two Free Events Coming up at LCSC

LEWISTON, ID - Two free events will take place at Lewis-Clark State College in November. On Thursday, mentalist Chris Carter will take the stage at 8:00 p.m. and on Thursday, November 9th, Seattle magician Nash Fung will perform at 8:00 p.m.

Carter touts himself as a mind reader, motivational speaker, and magician, as well as being an expert in body language and persuasive communication.

 

U of I Researchers Have Won Recognition for Innovative Water Treatment Technology

MOSCOW, ID - University of Idaho College of Agricultural and Life Sciences researchers Greg Moller, Dan Strawn, and Martin Baker won recognition for their innovative water treatment technology. The team was honored by the Everglades Foundation Thursday in Chicago. This event concluded the second preliminary stage of the $10 million George Barley Water Prize competition.

LCSC WIll Celebrate 125 Years in 2018

LEWISTON, ID - Lewis-Clark State College will celebrate its 125th anniversary on January 27th. There will be many commemorative events in 2018 during a yearlong celebration of the college’s past, present, and future.

The date marks the anniversary of when Idaho Governor William J. McConnell authorized the establishment of Lewiston State Normal School in 1893.

26-Year-Old Malden Man Booked into Jail

COLFAX, WA - A 26-year-old Malden man was booked into jail after failing to stop for a Whitman County Deputy on Sunday morning. Deputies responded to Rosalia around 2:00 a.m. after receiving a report of a vehicle driving around town at a high rate of speed.

The deputies observed a late model Honda Civic driving recklessly in the area of North Whitman Avenue.

Boy Scout Troop 1148 Worked at the Lewiston-Nez Perce County Regional Airport

LEWISTON, ID - Boy Scout Troop 1148 worked at the Lewiston-Nez Perce County Regional Airport last Saturday to improve the appearance of the airport’s main entrance. The boy scouts pulled weeds, trimmed bushes, laid landscaping fabric, and laid river rock. Three other areas of the airport were cleaned up by the scouts as well.

Life Scout Dale Simmons led the effort, supported by friends and volunteers of Troop 1148. It’s part of his dream of becoming an Eagle Scout. Working his way up through the ranks, it was time for him to create a community service project.
