MOSCOW, Idaho — June 23, 2020 —  A team of University of Idaho researchers has secured a $10 million U.S. Department of Agriculture – National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA) grant to evaluate the use of bioproducts from dairy waste streams to enhance sustainability for all of Idaho agriculture and develop economic opportunities for the state’s dairy industry.

Even if you don’t owe income taxes, you’re still required by law to file an individual income tax return if you meet Idaho’s filing requirements. The 2020 Columbia River forecasted return for upriver steelhead is 95,500 (85,900 A-index and 9,600 B-index). 

Similar to the last couple of years, steelhead returns are predicted to be low in 2020. Previous closures have been focused on B-index steelhead, but there is also an extremely low forecast for A-index steelhead in 2020. Pre-season concerns for both A-index and B-index groups of fish (wild and hatchery origin) have led WDFW to close this fishery until further notice. 

Attempted Child Abduction In The Area Of Settlement Road

On Tuesday, June 23, 2020, the Nez Perce County Sheriff's Office took a report of a suspicious vehicle, a red Subaru Forester with a dog sticker in the back window, driving in the area of Settlement Road, in  Nez Perce County. The driver was a female about 40 years old with brown hair and glasses.

The female attempted to entice a 7 year old boy into her vehicle offering the child Gatorade. The vehicle was last seen driving east on Settlement Road.

Kittitas County Approved To Move To Phase 3 of Gov. Jay Inslee's Safe Start Plan

OLYMPIA -- Today Washington State Secretary of Health John Wiesman approved Kittitas County to move to Phase 3 of Gov. Jay Inslee’s Safe Start plan.

A total of three counties are in Phase 1, two counties are in a modified version of Phase 1, 18 counties are in Phase 2 and 16 counties are in Phase 3.

Umatilla National Forest Opens Additional Access On Tucannon River Road (Forest Service Road 47)

PENDLETON, Ore. – To allow additional public access, the Umatilla National Forest is adjusting the closure gate today on the Tucannon River Road (Forest Service Road 47) from the Tucannon Fish Hatchery to the Tucannon Campground. The new closure boundary will be located just past the campground. The Tucannon Campground will also reopen today for overnight camping.

"After searching for 11 days the Clearwater County Sheriff's Office has suspended the search for Gordon White. The search involved not only Clearwater County Search and Rescue members but also many community members and other Search and Rescue Units from all over Idaho, Montana, Washington and Oregon. I would like to thank everyone that volunteered to help with the search and those that provided food and supplies for the searchers. There were several people that dropped everything else and came and helped search everyday of the search. This case will remain open until Gordon is found."

Investigation into Damage to the Liberty Bell Replica Outside the Idaho Statehouse

This morning, state employees were able to repair much of the damage done to the Liberty Bell replica that sits in front of the Idaho Statehouse. The damage was reported to have occurred Saturday evening. Idaho State Police are investigating the vandalism.
