CLARKSTON, WA – The Asotin County Library will host a book and video sale soon.  The Friends of Asotin County Library organization is holding the event in which they’ll be selling books for all ages, videos, and audio materials at what they’re calling “bargain” prices.

OLYMPIA, WA – Washington has seen a “perfect storm” of fire activity this week, resulting in 50 wildfires so far in the state.  A meteorologist for the Washington Department of Natural Resources says weather conditions combined with abundant dead and dormant grasses and shrubs led to the onslaught of blazes. 

All-Inclusive Dance Tonight

LEWISTON, ID – There’s a free dance tonight for everyone.  The all-inclusive dance is hosted by the Disability Action Center Northwest.  It starts at 6:00 pm and goes until 8:00 pm at the Lewiston Community Center. 

Fentanyl Overdose Deaths Rising Fast

LEWISTON, ID  – Fentanyl overdose deaths are on the rise, but the northwest, including Alaska, has one of the smallest populations dying from the drug.  The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention released a new study today that shows while the northwest has a small population of deaths from that specific drug, the overall number of people dying from it is skyrocketing.

LEWISTON, ID – Spring cleaning is underway and for some people, that means burning waste to get the yard ready for summer.  The Idaho Department of Environmental Quality says if at all possible, you should not burn.  They recommend composting, recycling, renting a chipper and turn branches into mulch.

If you have no alternative to burning, the DEQ says there are several things to keep in mind.
