Lamont Man Booked in Whitman County On Assault First Degree and Drive by Shooting

COLFAX WA- On 01-02-20 at 4:30 p.m Whitman County Deputies were advised of a weapons offense which occurred on Spuler Rd. near Lamont, WA.  Deputies were contacted by a resident on Spuler Rd who reported a neighbor, 60-year-old Phillip Hayes of Lamont WA, had fired several rounds toward a shop where the reporting party was located.

Record Year for Washington in the Prevention of Aquatic Invasive Species

OLYMPIA – Boaters helped the state celebrate a record year for efforts to prevent the spread of aquatic invasive species into Washington’s waterways, including zebra and quagga mussels, aquatic plants, and fish and amphibian diseases. Aquatic invasive species invade ecosystems beyond their natural historic range, and can negatively impact water quality, power and irrigation systems, native wildlife, and recreational opportunities.

Olympia – Fireworks can be a sparktacular way to ring in the New Year with a bang, but they can also be dangerous if handled inappropriately. In 2018, fireworks in Washington caused 209 injuries and 92 fires. Most of those incidents occurred around Independence Day, but five fireworks injuries were reported in 2018 between December 27-31.

Nez Perce National Historical Park’s Winter Holiday Hours

LAPWAI, ID – Nez Perce National Historical Park wishes you and your family a safe and happy holiday season. The Spalding Visitor Center will be closed Christmas Eve (Dec 24), Christmas Day (Dec 25), and New Year’s Day (Jan 1) to give our staff time to spend with their loved ones. The visitor center will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on New Year’s Eve (Dec 31). All park sites will remain open to the public throughout the holidays.

Idaho State Police Aims to Reduce Number of Impaired Drivers During Holiday Season

Starting today, the Idaho State Police will have all available troopers working throughout the state to keep Idaho roads safe.  The increased patrols will focus on reducing the number of impaired and other unsafe drivers on Idaho roadways during the holiday season. Specially trained Drug Recognition Experts (DRE) will also be working during the holiday to identify impaired drivers. DRE's provide law enforcement agencies with certified experts capable of gathering evidence to substantiate charges of impairment by drugs in DUI/drug investigations.
