Idaho Department of Environmental Quality is Asking for Public Comment

LEWISTON, ID - The Idaho Department of Environmental Quality is asking for public comment of the proposed plans to address the elevated temperatures in the Potlach River watershed. The recent analyses of water quality data showed that stream temperatures are above recommended levels due to a lack of shade.

 

TSA Announced Helping to Improve Security Screening at Lewiston-Nez Perce County Regional Airport

LEWISTON, ID - The Transportation Security Administration has announced that it will help with the efforts to improve the security screening checkpoint at the Lewiston-Nez Perce County Regional Airport. The Airport Authority Board has put an increased emphasis on enhancing the customers' travel experience.

The 200-Acre Yellow Bull Fire Update

KAMIAH, ID - The 200-acre Yellow Bull Fire, located 10 miles southwest of Kamiah is being taken care by Idaho Department of Lands, the U.S. Forest Service, and more than 30 volunteers with tractors, implements, and a dozer.

Currently a Type 3 Incident Commander from the USFS Grangeville Smoke Jumpers is in charge of firefighting efforts, and along with the volunteer resources there are three engines on the scene.

Gov. Butch Otter has Appointed Fifth District Judge Richard Bevan to the Idaho Supreme Court

BOISE, ID - Governor Butch Otter has appointed Fifth District Judge G. Richard Bevan of Twin Falls to succeed the retiring Justice Daniel Eismann on the five-member Idaho Supreme Court.

"I am honored and humbled to be chosen as Idaho’s next Supreme Court justice,” Bevan says.

 

SEL has Donated $150,000 to the American Red Cross

PULLMAN, WA - Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories has donated $150,000 to the American Red Cross for relief efforts needed for Hurricane Harvey.

“Our employees, customers, and the communities impacted by this hurricane are in our thoughts and prayers,” SEL President Edmund O. Schweitzer, III, says.

Lewis-Clark Service Corps has Been Awarded a $287,521 Grant

LEWISTON, ID - The Idaho Department of Labor has announced that the.Lewis-Clark Service Corps has been awarded a $287,521 grant from Serve Idaho, the Governor’s Commission on Service and Volunteerism, to continue its AmeriCorps program.

Lewis-Clark State College will use the grant money to fund 32 AmeriCorps members who will serve as tutors and mentors to students in grades Kindergrten through 12th grade.

Nez Perce Tribe Law Enforcement Office Observed a Mountain Lion

LAPWAI, ID - The Nez Perce Tribe Law Enforcement Office observed a mountain lion across from Heritage Road south of Domebo Flats last night. Parents are encouraged to pick up their children who walk until further notice. Parents of children who use the buses are also encouraged to meet their children at the bus stops until notified.
