Pine Creek Fire Grows as Incident Teams Take On A New Fire

Deary, Idaho - The Pine Creek fire grows as it burns in very steep and rugged terrain making firefighting a slow and difficult process. Despite the challenges, fire crews were successful in keeping the fire on the west side of Pine Creek and east of Heimgartner Road. The fire is estimated at 400 acres with zero containment.

Cheney, WA – Crews overnight worked on the line with infrared technology to look for hot spots. This is a piece of technology that provides an extra set of “eyes” to help make sure the fire is totally out and there are no hot spots within the mop-up area.

ASOTIN - The two fires that started Wednesday continue to be worked on by multiple agencies. The Dry Gulch fire has been burning in the Dry Gulch area west of Asotin Creek Road and is currently at 0% containment. The Silcott fire started in the area of Silcott Grade Road, west of the city of Clarkston, and is currently at 10% containment.

Passing Thunderstorms Ignite Fires on the Pomeroy Ranger District

PENDLETON, Ore. (July 7, 2021) –  Fire crews on the Pomeroy Ranger District are responding to reports of smoke and fire following passing thunderstorms this morning. So far, six new incidents on the Umatilla National Forest have been reported to the Blue Mountain Interagency Dispatch Center.

Cheney, WA – Overnight crews continued their mop-up operations on the fire. The overall goal for mop-up is to work 200 feet in from the perimeter of the fire line and 500 feet out from structures. Today, crews will continue mopping up and clearing dangerous trees from the perimeter that have been deemed a hazard due to fire activity.  Cooler weather and low winds are expected today.

State Fire Mobilization Authorized for the Asotin Complex Fire

Asotin County – State fire assistance has been mobilized under the Washington State Fire Services Resource Mobilization Plan in support of local firefighters working to contain the Asotin Complex Fire located in Asotin County, near Clarkston.  The Asotin Complex Fire is currently burning in vegetation.  Washington State Patrol Chief John Batiste authorized the mobilization of state firefighting resources on July 7, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. at the request of Fire Chief Noel Hardin, Asotin County Fire District 1.
