District 2 Crews Earn Excellence Award in Maintenance & Operations For Spring Slide Cleanup

From the Idaho Transportation Department: The clean-up effort this past spring by District 2 in the aftermath of significant slides won the Excellence in Transportation Award in December. The cleanup involved 1,800 personnel hours over a span of five days, and required every shed in the district to pitch in — especially the Orofino, Grangeville and Lewiston crews. This was an average of more than 350 personnel hours per day!

Critical Type O blood Shortage: Red Cross Urgently Needs Donors

BENEWAH, Idaho. (Jan. 20, 2020) — The American Red Cross has extended its urgent call for donors of all blood types to give blood or platelets. With influenza escalating across the country and preventing some donors from giving, and winter weather threatening to cancel blood drives, the Red Cross now has a critical shortage of type O blood and urgently needs donors to restock the shelves.

After the 2019 Legislature approved a bill to lift the cap on participation in the mastery-based network, the number of participants more than doubled.  Today, more than a quarter of Idaho’s school districts and 12 percent of the state’s charter schools are working on new, innovative approaches to teaching and learning.

LEWISTON, Idaho – The ball did not seem to be falling in the Warriors’ favor to open Saturday’s Frontier Conference matchup between the No. 25 Lewis-Clark State Women’s Basketball team and the Providence Argonauts. After the Argos busted out with 20 unanswered points, the Warriors kicked their game into high gear and fought all the way to clinch a 61-60 victory. In the second-straight game that was decided in the final minute, Abby Farmer scored the go-ahead three-point play for LC State.

LCSC Men's Basketball Continues Rolling, Defeating No. 8 Providence

LEWISTON, Idaho – It was smooth sailing for the No. 12 Lewis-Clark State Men’s Basketball team on Saturday night when it upset No. 8 Providence 90-71 in Lewiston. Led by a career-high 25 points from Josiah Westbrook, the Warriors dominated all aspects of the game. LC State continued to show that it is the best 3-point shooting team in the conference, knocking down 15 in the contest with five each from Westbrook and Travis Yenor. With the victory, LC State holds a share of the top spot in the conference.

Spokane Man Convicted of Attempted Robbery on Coeur d'Alene Indian Reservation

COEUR D'ALENE, ID -  Isiah James Harrington, 19, of Spokane, was sentenced in the U.S. District Court in Coeur d’Alene to 41 months in prison for attempted robbery, U.S. Attorney Bart M. Davis announced today. Chief U.S. District Judge David C. Nye also ordered Harrington to serve three years of supervised release following his prison sentence. Harrington pleaded guilty to the charge on September 4, 2019.
