Lewis-Clark Service Corps has Been Awarded a $287,521 Grant

LEWISTON, ID - The Idaho Department of Labor has announced that the.Lewis-Clark Service Corps has been awarded a $287,521 grant from Serve Idaho, the Governor’s Commission on Service and Volunteerism, to continue its AmeriCorps program.

Lewis-Clark State College will use the grant money to fund 32 AmeriCorps members who will serve as tutors and mentors to students in grades Kindergrten through 12th grade.

Nez Perce Tribe Law Enforcement Office Observed a Mountain Lion

LAPWAI, ID - The Nez Perce Tribe Law Enforcement Office observed a mountain lion across from Heritage Road south of Domebo Flats last night. Parents are encouraged to pick up their children who walk until further notice. Parents of children who use the buses are also encouraged to meet their children at the bus stops until notified.

LCSC Holds Open Auditions Sept. 6th

LEWISTON, ID - The Lewis-Clark State College theater program will hold open auditions September 6th for two fall productions. The two productions are “Hands on a Hardbody” and “The Odd Couple.”

From LCSC:
Auditions are open to the public, but those chosen can only be in one of the two shows. Those interested in auditioning are asked to prepare a one minute monologue that will serve as an audition for both plays.

Man Arrested at Webb's Slough after Exposing Himself & Threatening Others

COLFAX, WA - A 42-year-old man was arrested at Webb's Slough after he exposed himself and threatened others with a loaded firearm on Saturday afternoon. From initial reports, Ricky Bakko of Moses Lake, was exposing himself outside of his trailer in the camping area of the boat races around 3:00 p.m. An altercation ensued after several people confronted him about his behavior officials say.


Temporary Closures of Three Recreation Sites

KAMIAH, ID - Due to facility improvements the Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forest will temporarily close three recreation sites. The sites are Hidden Creek Campground, Clark Mountain Trailhead, and Giant White Pine Campground. Beginning today, the North Fork Ranger District, Hidden Creek Campground and Clark Mountain Trailhead will be closed as they repair and replace the vault toilets at the sites.

September 4. On the Palouse Ranger District, Giant White Pine Campground is expected to be closed Friday, September 1–Friday, September 8.
