OLYMPIA, ID - The Office of the Developmental Disabilities Ombuds has launched a website where people can learn what the office is doing, submit complaints, and access other resources for people with disabilities. The website is www.ddombuds.org .

The website was created by AccessibilityOz, a company specializing in the creation of webpages that are accessible to people with disabilities.

Winter Recreation Passes Required When Parking at Lolo Pass Visitor Center

KAMIAH, ID - Winter Recreation Passes will be required at all times when parking at Lolo Pass Visitor Center beginning Saturday according to the Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests.

From the NP-CNF:
Day passes ($5), bundles (five day passes for $20), and season passes ($35) can be purchased at the visitor center during regular hours of operation. After hours, day passes can be purchased at the front door of the visitor center for exact cash or check. Day passes and season passes can also be purchased in Missoula at The Trail Head on Front Street, the Lolo National Forest office at Fort Missoula, and the Lolo Hot Springs along Highway 12.

IDFG Will Hold an Open House Meeting December 5th

LEWISTON, ID - The Idaho Department of Fish and Game will hold an upland game, turkey, and furbearer open house meeting on December 5th from 9:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. at their office in Lewiston.

The monthly Fish and Game dinner will also be held that evening beginning at 5:30 p.m. and will include these presentations: Steelhead radio telemetry tracking study, wildlife updates, commission report and more.

Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests Have Put Travel Restrictions on FSR 492

KAMIAH, ID - The Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests have put in place travel restrictions on Forest Service Road 492 which is also known as Santiam Road. The restrictions are for public health and safety due to winter weather conditions and logging operations on the Red River Ranger District.

Due to logging operations on the Deadwood Salvage timber sale and slick winter driving conditions in the area, Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests staff have closed FSR 492 from its junction with Highway 14 to its junction with FSR 1111. questions; (208) 935-4254.

Lewiston Police Investigating Double Homicide

LEWISTON, ID - UPDATE: Carlin was taken into custody near Umatilla, Oregon at about 11:30 a.m.

Two people were killed and another person is in serious condition at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center with stab wounds to the back following an apparent double homicide in the 600 block of Preston Avenue shortly after 5:00 a.m. today. A person of interest in this case has been identified as 73-year-old Richard Carlin whose last known address is in Lewiston, but he has not been located at this time.

Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests Offices Will be Closed on Thursday

KAMIAH, ID - Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests offices will be closed on Thursday for Thanksgiving. Regular office hours will resume on Friday.

From NP-CNF:
Lolo Pass Visitor Center, located on Highway 12 at the Idaho–Montana state line, will also be closed on Thanksgiving Day. The visitor center is now operating on its winter schedule; regular office hours are Thursday through Monday, 7:30 a.m.–4:15 p.m. (PST).

Kooskia Community Library Open House Nov. 29th

KOOSKIA, ID - Kooskia Community Library is inviting the public to an Open House on November 29th from 2:00 to 5:30 p.m. The library has new tables and chairs, Lego kits, improved 24/7 Internet service among other updates.

Lisa Puckett, Tech & Education Coordinator for PRLD, will also be there to introduce Talking Books Service (TBS) for print-disabled readers and demonstrate the equipment.
